The Genetic and Reproduction Units organized the First Course of Clinical Genetics in Assisted Reproduction

15% of couples of reproductive age have fertility problems. The cause of it, can be male, female or mixed, and overall in 25% of cases there is an underlying genetic problem that causes inability to get pregnant, or repeat abortions. Knowledge and proper diagnosis of the genetic causes to a better treatment of infertility and prevention of the transmission of genetic abnormalities to offspring.

Professionals Units of Genetics and Reproduction Clinic Vistahermosa conducted from 9 years ago, a University Specialist Training Program in Biology of Human Reproduction in collaboration with the University Miguel Hernandez and a cast of Spanish professionals and other educational activities. Aware of the growing impact of genetics on human fertility, has organized a Course of Clinical Genetics Assisted Reproduction, first of its kind in Spain.

The course is aimed at medical professionals and biomedical interest in reproductive medicine and in three sessions will be held on 26 February, 5 and 12 March.

The direction of the course lies with Professor Joaquin Rueda, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Alicante and Advisory Unit Vistahermosa Genetics Clinic Hospital of Alicante, and Jose Miguel Garcia Sagredo, Chief of Medical Genetics, Hospital Ramón y Cajal Madrid and current president of the European Association Cytogeneticists
